What we paint

Painting services

One room or the whole house? We look at the surfaces, talk colors and sheen, and give you a written quote.

Salinas Painting Solutions paints homes, rentals, offices and shops in Salinas and across Monterey County, from Castroville and Prunedale to Soledad, and over to the Monterey Peninsula. We paint interiors and exteriors, refinish kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and stain or paint decks and fences. We also do the work that has to come first, such as washing, drywall repair and wallpaper removal. The company is licensed and insured. Estimates are free and the quote is always written down.

Most Salinas houses are stucco or wood siding, and they live in a damp, breezy climate. Fog rolls up the valley from the bay on summer mornings, the wind rises after lunch and fine dust blows in off the fields. Toward Monterey the air is salty and wet. Toward Soledad it is hot and dry. Each of those wears paint in its own way, so we look at where your house sits and which walls face the weather before we choose primers and finishes.

Every job follows the same order. First we visit, measure and look closely at the surfaces. Next you receive a written quote that names the areas, the repairs, the number of coats and the paint. On the start date we cover floors, furniture and plants, then wash, patch, sand, caulk and prime before two finish coats. When we are done we clean up and walk the work with you. didn’t realize how much a simple paint job could change the whole atmosphere of a bedroom. The new color makes the space feel calm and inviting. The painters paid attention to detail, and everything looks neat and polished. It’s exactly what I hoped for.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to paint a house in Salinas?

HomeGuide publishes national figures for 2026 of $3,500 to $10,000 for a whole interior and $3,000 to $10,000 for the exterior of an average 2,000 square foot house. These are not our quotes. Your price depends on size, prep and paint, and we put it in writing after a free estimate.

Does a painter need a license in California?

Yes, for any job of $1,000 or more including labor and materials. Painters are licensed by the state board, CSLB, in class C-33, and you can look up any license at cslb.ca.gov. Salinas Painting Solutions is licensed and insured.

How much deposit can a painter take in California?

The legal limit on a home improvement job is $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less. Payments after that should keep pace with the work done.

When is the best time to paint the outside of a house in Salinas?

Roughly May through October, when rain is unlikely. Summer mornings are often foggy, so we begin once the walls have dried and stop before the evening damp. September and October are often the clearest weeks.

My Salinas home was built before 1978. Is lead paint a concern?

It can be. Older paint layers may contain lead, and federal rules require lead-safe methods when a paid contractor disturbs them. Sound old paint can be painted over safely. Tell us the age of the house when you call.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval to repaint?

A building permit is rarely needed for painting alone. An HOA usually has to approve a change of exterior color, and a designated historic building may need city review. Check before you settle on colors.
